2021 Happy New Year

Happy New Year for those who are still subscribed to this blog. It's been a while. Sometime back in 2020 I guess I tried to blog but then my mac laptop died with all my adobe programs so I lost motivation to blog. I'm currently using a chromebook to start blogging again. I set a goal for myself. If I can keep this up without disappearing for long period of time, I'll buy a laptop or desktop. lolz

New Years Eve
I worked and then left to pick up some chicken and pizza for dinner. Did some osouji (new year cleaning) and went to sleep. I woke up with massive texts from friends and coworkers but then later feel back asleep. Meh.

New Years Day
I woke up early so I can go to Tokyo Central to pick up some sashimi and ingredients for shabu-shabu. I picked up a $30 beauty fukubukuro (lucky bag). Afterwards, I went to Mitsuwa to see if they had new year decorations in which I picked up another $50 fukubukuro. The reveal will be in the next post. I need to sleep now or else I'll be a zombie at the office. Goodnight.

What I miss

Being MIA for 4yrs made me realize that I miss blogging. I can't explain the feeling. Maybe the process of documenting something gives me some sort of satisfaction in life. I started blogging way back on Xanga about my life. Well, maybe complaining about it haha. Then it moved towards a positive note of what I did that day, what I bought, etc. I'm highly disappointed in myself for not updating the past years. I should've discussed my new life in Oregon, adopting a cat, being alone. Pretty sure some other events occurred that slipped my mind which only makes it a more valid reason to blog again. It would've been great if my pictures spanning from late 2017 to early 2018 didn't get deleted from iphone update (didn't backup >_<). I'm going off on a tangent... Anyways, this blog is all over the place but at the end of the day, it's my blog. I just want to make memories about anything even if it's a boring topic.

I'm alive LOL part 2

Hello,

Apparently, it has been exactly one year and 3 days since my last post. OMFG.

I had to look at my previous post to see where I left off. The photos below were gathered from my Facebook otherwise I don't remember what happened within the past year.

October 2015
In case you didn't know, the company I got hired from last year was Tokyo Otaku Mode as their Photographer.

After finally getting a legit full-time office job. I bought my first car. I actually wanted a Honda because I drove one during my college and university years but my parents and I spoke to several dealers and settled for Toyota in Manhattan Beach because they gave a better discount for university grads within two years of graduation date.

November 2015
When Tokyo Otaku Mode hired me, they knew I had a night shift job as a Graphic Designer. I told them that I still needed the extra money to pay student loan and now new car payment. I got their permission to keep my second job because some companies are strict about working other jobs.

Late November, I got a THIRD JOB. Monday-Friday I worked 9-6pm at Tokyo Otaku Mode then afterward worked 7pm-12:30am at Graphic Design job. Saturday & Sunday worked third job selling chestnuts from 8:30a-6:30pm. It would be seasonal until July 2016.

I worked on my birthday. I don't remember what happened. I think I ate cake.

December 2015

Lunch before the new year with TOM members.

My goal/treat for myself was to get all the Liz Lisa fukubukuro. My boyfriend bought me two of the bags as a birthday present and I bought the remaining three.

January 2016
Went to ALA to take photos of cosplayers.

February 2016
My lucky bags arrived!

March 2016
Every month, we have pizza parties!

Sakura Frappuccino

April 2016
My hair was becoming a hassle and it would take me 40 mins to blow dry. Ain't nobody have time for that when you have three jobs xD

Japan with boyfriend and his family

I brought $3,000USD spending money. We stayed with his mother in Abiko while his father stayed in Shibuya with his family. Even though I had a lot of spending cash, there was not enough luggage space. The post office ended up being closed because of a holiday during our last days so no point buying more clothes :/

May
Company trip to Oregon

June
My name is on TOM box

The perks for working at TOM are the events!

July 2016
Anime Expo

July 2016
TOM told me that they were moving to Oregon. They asked me to move there with them so I went. Goodbye parties.

August 2016
Moved to Oregon. My title would change to Photographer -> Warehouse Leader.

Moving was a pain. I couldn't bring all my Liz Lisa haha. I would visit LA every now and then to pick up more items.

September 2016 to Present day

Oregon is really beautiful. Delicious food and beer. Good public transportation. No sales tax. I would best describe Portland as the modern countryside. The adjustment has been hard. Only because it doesn't offer the things I like. Only one Japanese market called Uwajimaya which is ridiculously expensive because they have no competition. Their makeup section is just sad. I have to resort to grocery shop at Trader Joes instead of Marukai or Nijiya. I have no friends here. No boyfriend (he's in LA). We talk or text every day. All I do is work. The highlights of my weekends are laundry and cleaning my apartment. Lately, I've been going to the office on the weekend to prep for the work week because I'm so bored at home which concludes to why I decided to start my blog again.

I'm alive LOL

Hello everyone. I'm using my one day off to finally update. I haven't forgotten about this blog or my followers. I've been busy with two jobs working 12-18hrs a day. Why am I working so much? Well after graduating university, I was having a hard time trying to find work. I finally got hired part-time at Tokyo Central / Don Quijote (ドン・キホーテ) as a graphic designer / cashier in May. During this time, boyfriend started complaining I wasn't making enough money which was true. It wasn't enough to support my expensive shopping habits and student loan.

Sometime in July, my co-worker brought me to this place called Oko Cafe. My co-worker went here everyday for drinks so he knew the workers and owner. Co-worker introduced me to the owner Sammi. She thought I was cute and was asking if I was looking for more work. "I'm like as a matter of fact I am." I filled out an application and she noticed I majored in Graphic Design. She said her husband was looking for help to create posters, flyers and food menu etc. I was hired on the spot. Lucky day. So from then on I've been working those crazy long hours. Once my paychecks were getting bigger, I started buying Liz Lisa every week (I know, I'm crazy). I had enough money to pay for my spending habits. One paycheck went to Liz Lisa/Ayumi Hamasaki/misc goods and the other paycheck went to food and student loans (mostly loan). I lost weight in the process. I just didn't have the time to eat anymore plus I didn't want to spend money on food. Lately my dad was being lazy with making dinner so there wouldn't be leftovers for me when I get back home at 1am which made me pissed so I went the cheap route. Survive on one onigiri a day sometimes I ate cup noodle if I had enough energy coming home from work.

Meeting Beth
We've been online friends since forever back when Xanga was the shit 12 years ago? HAHA. She came to LA with her husband and two kids. I had a blast hanging out with her over the weekend. I remember it being considered weird to have online friends. Now it's a common thing. Some of my closest friends were originally online.

She bought me this lovely hamster!

The month of August was torture. I worked 8am-2:30pm then 3:30pm-3:30am for special 3 day weekend event. I felt dead everyday. I drank 5 cans of redbull to keep myself awake. Tokyo Central was going through renovation so I ended up doing construction work with the rest of the staff. I put up wallpaper, cut and laminated over 5000+ designs. Oh yeah also little janitorial work like scrubbing tile, cleaning men & womens restrooms everyday. BLEH.

This pretty summed up my current situation back in August

September came along. I wasn't getting much graphic design work for Tokyo Central. They mainly wanted me as cashier cause we were busy with the store's soft opening. Oko still had me doing graphic design every week so I was content with them.

Before I knew it, it was already October. It was time to start looking for a new daytime job, preferably full-time in my field of study. Submitted my updated resume to companies, went to a few job interviews and FINALLY landed a full-time job. After hearing the good news, I quickly submitted my two weeks. I will mention my job on my facebook later this week. I start this thursday October 15. I'm nervous and jumping for joy at the same time.

OOTD + Chilling with classmates

[Cecil McBee top, Cecil McBee key necklace, Ingini Skirt]

I need a full length mirror in my room for OOTD posts for now I'll just have to settle using my iphone.

Last week Tuesday, I picked up my old university roommate, Yvette. She's now a senior and kinda suffering the way I did with the senior thesis. Only difference is her major so she doesn't need to host an art gallery event the way Art & Film students had to. I also invited my other classmate Mac who lives close to me to meet us at Astro Bar (japanese bar).

I ordered one beer. I'm such a lightweight. Yvette was tank though.. She drank two cocktails and 3 shots of sake… didn't even phase her haha Mac doesn't drink so he ordered food but he's a regular. He goes every week :) We ordered pizza, chicken wings, and sushi. YUM!

Yvette gave me this cool pouch from the country Cyprus. She was studying abroad last semester. Thank you! ^_^

I'm having surgery tomorrow, again!!!

I blame stress and my weak immune that caused me to have this. Tomorrow the doctor is putting me under to remove a skin abscess on my butt, ewww.

June 3: Woke up with what it appears to be a bug bite on right buttcheek

June 6: Got worse and bigger. Went to urgent care up the street in Rancho Palos Verdes at 9 am. Doc gave me anti-biotics. Took pills at 12pm. Hung out with Sayuri 3pm-ish. Starting getting chills and fever at 6pm. Sayuri drove me home 10pm. Took antibiotics again at 11pm.

June 7: 5am Woke up with fever and chills again. Went to urgent care again to get a new prescription of anti-biotics. Turns out I was allergic to it. On-call Doc said come back monday for removal of abscess.
June 8: Feeling dead. Stayed in bed all day.

June 9: Minor surgery day. On-call doc shot me up with lidocaine but still felt the pain. A second shot was administered but still felt the whole surgery. Doc lanced the area, squeezed out blood & pus. Left the wound open with gauze in it so the bacteria can drained out during the week.

June 10: Met with a specialist doctor. The doc took the gauze out. Another painful experience.

June 11-16: Healing, resting, and eating home cooked Japanese food that parents made me instead of my usual eating out with friends or bf. I lost 7lbs already!

June 17: Met with specialist doc. Doc said I should've done with procedure with him cause urgent care doctors don't know what they are doing. Scheduled to have local surgery done tomorrow at 4:30pm at Torrance Memorial. I'll be put to sleep while doc can get everything out without having me kicking and screaming lol

Doctors orders... No food for today!
At 8pm: Must drink 8.3 oz of Miralax with 32 oz Gatorade
At 9pm: Must take 4 pills of Ducolax
….
Rushing to bathroom every 5mins
….
12am no more liquids

June 18: Surgery 4:30pm. I have to arrive at 2:30pm to register and sign papers.

Ugh.

Oyasumi/Goodnight

Just keeping you guys updated. This sucks.

Giveaway announcement postpone!

Just in case you guys haven't checked my instagram or twitter, I had to postpone my giveaway announcement to next week. I had minor surgery monday afternoon and have been recovering ever since. Unable to walk or sit, constant fevers, and nausea when eating solid foods. Just feeling like shit. I've been stuck in bed all week. It sucks. Whenever I'm not KOed from meds, I look at my iphone a bit at social media. My parents think I over exhausted myself and that I always get severely sick whenever I finish school. In college, I never got sick during the school year but whenever I had a school break, all the illnesses comes out. I got a shit immune system and I really need to start taking care of myself.

Okay, I need to sleep now. I WILL get better and do this giveaway!

Movie date

Movies

It's 3am here. I can't sleep so i downloaded blogger app onto crap Android phone. We'll see how this works. I usually like to blog/edit from computer but im too lazy to get out bed. I'll test this app since these pictures are on phone. Just saving a couple of steps.

Sho and I wanted to see The Wind Rises / 風立ちぬ for the longest time. Apparently Miyazaki said this was his final movie. We finally had the chance to sunday since I would be staying over his place in Irvine over the weekend. Next showing was at 3:25p at The District. I never been to that mall. Sho says it's nice. He's had lunch there with coworkers.

The movie was good. Very serious and non-fantasy like his previous movies because it's based on a real person.(´△`)

Afterwards, we ate an early dinner at one of the pizza joints nearby. As we were leaving, we passed by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Sho wanted to go inside. Oh gawd. So much chocolate. My brain was like "must eat" (+。+). The girl even gave us samples. I ended up buying semi-sweet chocolate fudge for me and white chocolate and marshmallow rice crispy for Sho.

That's it for now. I wonder how this will look tomorrow. If this blogger app is good. I'll keep it for phone entries. Good night.

3月3日 雛祭り / Hinamatsuri / Girls Day

Today is Doll's Day or Girls Day. It's a Japanese holiday in celebration of girls. Families with daughters celebrate their happiness, healthy growth, and future marriage by displaying hina-ningyo, dolls representing the emperor & empress and royal court. You can just display the emperor & empress if you don't have enough room or money to afford the royal court. The doll display can be up before the holiday but have to take it down March 4th (superstition says families have trouble marrying off daughter lol). Growing up, I remember my mom would buy the special girls day arare and mochi. So yummy. Even if this is meant for little girls, I still display my Hello Kitty and Daniel doll set (maybe cause I'm not married yet?) I'm a young girl at heart!
My mother gave me money to buy sakura mochi and arare for my sister and I because she forgot about girls day lol
I would've used a nicer plate but used a disposable plate instead because I was in a rush!

Gifts from Sho

Sho came back from Tokyo tuesday night. He told me to meet at his parents place so we can go out for dinner together. He wanted to eat Japanese food. I thought he would want American since he just came back from a week stay in Japan. Sho's dad was still working so we went out with his mother. We first went to Umenoya but they were closed, Matsui was an hour wait so we decided Coco Ichibanya. Sho and I shared the Beef Omurice and his mother ordered the same thing :)

Sho showed us more pictures he took of Japan while we were waiting for our food. He wants me to go back with him to certain places.  He says Japan wasn't fun without me  *aww* >u< I told him we'll go together after I graduate in May.

When we came back home, Sho gave me a bunch of presents. Wah I didn't expect him to buy so much. He said he was sorry for missing out on Valentine's Day.

I'll post the items in a separate post so here's a teaser photo
 - kit kat, liz lisa, eva cup, mochi, and hatsune miku plush

NFL Super Bowl XLVIII

I'm not a big sports fanatic but every year I always watch Super Bowl. It's just the American thing to do. I love watching the high budget commercials and new trailers for upcoming movies. This years teams were Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos. When I read #1 defense team vs #1 offense team, I thought ohh this will be a good game. However, this year was very boring. Seattle's defense was just too strong and Denver scored only ONE touchdown at the final quarter. It was sad. I was starting to feel bad for Denver. Everyone was rooting for star player, Peyton Manning, he's been to the super bowl like what 3 times? I don't know what happened but he just wasn't in game mode. Congrats to Seattle Seahawks, their first super bowl win in the franchise.
Ordered Pizza Hut's Big Dinner Box for $19.99. This lasted the 4 of us for lunch and dinner.

Poor Bronco's :(

I went over to Sho's parent's place to watch the game and even his parents said it was boring to watch cause there was no competition lol Hopefully next year we'll see a real game.

Happy New Year + New Years Resolution

Hello 2014! Where did 2013 go? I felt that it year flew by so fast especially with school keeping me busy. I moved back home from the dorms because my two roommates weren't returning for Spring 2014. They were not only my roommates but my friends. I just didn't want to deal with a new set of roommates for my last year. My parents thought it was a good choice since it would save them $12k

What did I do on new years eve?
I honestly just slept most of the day. In the afternoon, I did osoji (Japanese for cleaning for the new year). Sho came back early from work. He used my laptop my play LOL (League of Legends) while i cleaned. Later on we had dinner, my dad ordered Chinese food since he didn't feel like cooking. Around 10:30pm, I packed my stuff, Sho and I headed back to his parents place. We played some games together and 11:40pm watched the countdown. We then let up sparklers and went to bed.

The following morning, we ate ozoni. I love ozoni. It's the best dish to bring in the new year! ^_^
